前から「進研模試・２０１４年度・高２学力テスト・総合学力テスト」の英語、必修問題の大問４の内容一致問題を解説をやってます。今回は、選択肢イの正誤を判定します。
イ　The writer’s father found what his son wanted by reading the schedule the writer checked every night.

¶１ I was the only one in my family who cared about baseball.  I usually listened to Yankee games on the radio while dreaming that someday I would actually watch my heroes in person at Yankee Stadium.

¶２ That winter, I got a schedule and unfolded it every night, gazed at the summer dates, and dreamed.  To my surprise, one evening I saw my father examining it before going out to load his truck.　

　　Because he was a truck driver, he kept change in a red money bag to prevent coins from falling out of his pockets.  One Sunday, as he was shaving, he turned to me and said, “Take some silver from my bag and put it in a jar.  Each week we’ll add to it, and maybe we can go to Yankee Stadium this summer.”

これは著者が何をしたかったのか、そしてそのことをお父さんが分かっていたのかを問う「心情把握問題」です。マーカのthe scheduleは２つの文でヒットします。でも「心情把握問題」では、マーカがヒットした文章だけが根拠文だとは限りません。

「その冬、僕は試合の日程表を手に入れて、毎晩それを開いては、夏の日程をじっと見ていた。驚いたことに、ある晩荷積みに行く前に、父がその日程表を調べているところを目にした。

これだけでは、著者が手に入れた試合の日程表をお父さんがこっそり見ていたことしか分かりません。第１段落の次の文に著者の夢が書かれてます。
⊿いつかヤンキースタジアムで自分のヒーローを生で見ることを夢見て
dreaming that someday I would actually watch my heroes in person at Yankee Stadium

それをお父さんが分かってるかどうかは先を読まないといけません。するとこう書いてあります。
⊿毎週銀貨を貯めてゆけば、この夏ヤンキースタジアムに行けるよ。
Each week we’ll add to it (silver coin), and maybe we can go to Yankee Stadium this summer.
以上の３つの事実から、選択肢イは正解だと分かります。

「事実確認問題」は、マーカがヒットした文がそのまま根拠文となって、それだけで事実確認をすることができます。でも、「心情把握問題」は一連の事実から心情を推察する必要があります。だから、「心情把握問題」は厄介なのです。今年のセンター英語にはこの「心情把握問題」が出てなかったので、簡単だったのです。
