■教師の言っていることに注意するようにしなさい。
Try to pay attention to what the teacher is saying.
Try to take notice of what the teacher is saying.

attention にも notice にも「注意」「注目」の意味があるのですが、attention は自分が相手に向ける「注意」、notice は相手から自分に向けられる「注意」です。だから、公の場にある掲示や告知は「自分に向けられた注意」だから notice を使い、軍隊か何かの命令の「気をつけ！」は「相手に向けられた注意」だから attention を使います。

それと同様に、同じ「注意する」の表現でも attention は「自分が相手に向ける注意」なので、注意を相手に払うわけだから pay を使います。具体的にその注意がどちらに向くのかを「指さすto」で示します。一方、notice は「相手から自分に向けられる注意」なので、相手の注意を自分が受け取るわけだから take を使います。相手の注意が何に関するものかを「事柄・関連の of」で示します。

pay attention to A も take notice of A も全く同じ表現ですが、「注意」が向いている方向が違うことを覚えておいてください。あ、attention や notice の直前に、形容詞 little や no がくると、「注意をする」の意味が正反対の「無視をする」になるのも覚えておいてくださいね。
■僕は彼の言っていることを無視した。
I paid no [little] attention to what he was saying.
I took no [little] notice of what he was saying.
