前回に引き続き、日本語学習サイト「今日(imabi)」の英語を考えます。
In Japanese, 開く would appear in all four of these sentences. Its usages differ in the emotional state of the subject. If the usage utilizes a subject that has no willful control of itself, then changing the sentence from an intransitive one to a transitive one doesn’t change this fact.
1) The rose buds are blooming.
2) The rose bloomed.
3) The school door opened on its own.
4) He opened the door for me.

最初の英語は意味が通じます。
⊿日本語の「開く」が４つの例文全部に出てきます。
In Japanese, 開くwould appear in all four of these sentences.

次の英語は全く意味不明です。
⊿「ひらく」の使い方は主語の心の状態によって違う。
Its usages differ in the emotional state of the subject.

４つの例文を見てみると、上３つは物主語です。でも物にはemotional stateなんてありませんから、これでは「開く」の使い方は全く分かりません。次の英語はどうでしょうか。
⊿もし自分自身を意図的にコントロールできない主語を使って「開く」を使うのなら、文を自動詞から他動詞にしても、この事実は変わらない。

先ずsubject that has no willful control of itselfって何でしょうか？もしかして、「意思を持たない物主語」のことを言ってるのでしょうか？それならこうすると分かりやすい。
⊿もし文の主語が物なら～
If the subject of the sentence is an object or objects

それに「this fact」って何を指しているのかさっぱり分かりません。多分Its usages differ in the emotional state of the subject.のことを指しているのでしょうが、この文自体が意味不明なわけですから理解できません。どうしてもっと簡単にストレートに言わないのでしょうかね。例えばこういう具合です。
⊿文の主語が「人主語」なら、「開く」は他動詞になる。文の主語が「物主語」なら、「開く」は自動詞になる。
If the subject of the sentence is a person or persons, 「開く」is used as an intransitive verb. If the subject of the sentence is an object or objects, it is used as a transitive verb.

1)バラの花びらが「開く」
2)バラが「開く」
3)学校の扉が独りでに「開く」
4)彼は僕のためにドアを「開く」

物が主語なら、それが勝手に「開く」ですが、人が主語なら「開く→何を」の他動詞になります。絶対にこっちの方が分かりやすいと思うのですがね。
