Children should begin learning a foreign language at an elementary school. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

答案
I disagree with this statement.  First, children should learn a lot of things instead of learning a foreign language.  For example, it is said that many young Japanese don’t have a good command of Japanese and do not know Japanese culture well.  I think we should not be people who communicate and trade with foreign countries while we are lacking our native language skills and culture.  Second, we can learn a foreign language by a lot of ways when we want to.  For example, we can learn a foreign language from native teachers by Skype, which is one of the Internet services.  So even if children do not learn a foreign language at an elementary school, they can learn a foreign language according to their interest in their best way.

③wayの使い方
wayには主に２つの意味があります。１つは具体的で目に見える「道」、もう１つは何かをやるときにたどる「道」、つまり抽象的な「やり方・方法」です。
そして、鈴村君が書きたかったのは、「自分たちの一番良いやり方で」の英語ですから、抽象的な方です。
⊿彼らは自分たちの関心に応じて、一番良いと思う方法で、外国語を学習することができる。

先ず、in their best wayという英語はありません。「やり方」の意味で wayを使うのは次のような表現だけです。
⊿僕はこの問題をこんな風に（このやり方で）解いた。
I solved the problem in this way.
⊿僕はこの問題を自己流で解いた。
I solve the problem in my [own] way.

in my wayよりもin my own wayの方が意味がハッキリします。in my wayでは「道」の意味でも使えるからです。つまり、in ～ wayだけを見ると「道」だと誤解されます。

そして、どんなやり方でかを判然とさせるにはin ～wayだけでは足りません。「ＳがＶするやり方で」と言いたければ、wayに飾り予告のtheをつけて、「in the wayＳ＋Ｖ」を使わないと説明が不足します。
