＜問題＞
What opinion would you contribute after reading the following article in a newspaper?

  It is said, “Many people in developed countries eat food from convenience stores and fast food restaurants every day.” While a large number of people enjoy eating these foods, there are some people who fear that traditional foods will be completely replaced in the future by food that is convenient.
In 120 to 150 words, clearly state your own opinion about this issue in English.

＜答案＞
I don’t think traditional foods will be completely replaced in the future by convenient foods.  Of course, convenient foods are delicious and cheap, so I like them.  But there are also bad points about them.
One is that convenient foods have a bad affect on our health.  In fact, people who enjoy eating fast foods are aware of bad influence but they can’t prohibit themselves from eating fast foods.
On the other hand, traditional foods don’t have a bad influence on our health; they are made with healthy ingredients and make us healthy.  So some people who think traditional foods are very important take action ardently to keep them from being lost.
I think that we should eat traditional foods as well as convenient foods.  So traditional foods will not be completely replaced in the future.（１３６字）

乾くん！あ、本当は二茅くんなのですが、「伝統食品保存のために行動を起こす」をtake actions to keep them from being lostとやれるところなんか、なかなか素敵ですよ。

さて、添削のポイントは２つです。１つは「影響」、もう１つは「防ぐ」です。
①effect、affect、influenceの違い
さて、気を抜いていると間違えてしまうのがaffectとeffectです。よく似てますからね。
⊿天候が植物の生長に影響する。
The weather affects the growth of plants.
The weather has an effect on the growth of plants.

これを見れば分かるように、affectは動詞、effectは名詞です。でも、influenceとeffectは同じ名詞です。２つとも「影響」という意味でしか覚えていないと間違えます。
行為や行動に与える影響＝influence
状態や状況に与える影響＝effect

⊿テレビ番組が子供たちに悪い影響を与えている。
TV programs have a bad influence on children.
⊿その薬は患者に何の影響（効果）もなかった。
The medicine seemed to have no effect on the patient.

テレビ番組は子供達の行動に影響を与えますが、薬は患者の状態（病状）に影響を与えます。ここではファストフーズが健康（という身体の状態）に与える影響を言ってますから、influenceじゃなくてeffectを使います。そして、悪い影響は１つではないはずなので、effectsと複数形にするのも忘れてはいけません。

②prohibitの使い方
文脈では「ファストフーズが健康に悪いことは分かってるけど、食べずにはいられない」です。prohibitは「法律や規則で禁止する」の意味ですから、ここでは法律や規則は関係ありませんから、prohibitは使えません。簡単にstopでいいでしょう。
